Australian Government Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme
The Australian Government provides a ‘Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme‘ or (REBS) to help you install a solar hot water system. This is available from 2010 -2011 and through to 2012 financial years depending on demand. The scheme assist house-holders to slash their electricity bills by converting to a solar hot water system By using solar to reduce their carbon footprint save money. The scheme is available to all home-owners, landlords and yes even tenants providing it is their principal place of residence. They can replace their existing electric hot water systems and switch to a solar hot water system to slash their electricity bills. REBS replaced the previous ‘Solar Hot Water Rebate Program’. It is possible to claim a rebated of $1000.00 for solar hot water system while the rebate for a heat bank is $600.00.
Please note if you received assistance under the Home Insulation Program then you will not able to claim the rebate for switching to solar hot water.
